Storyline in Greece: a presentation for the Golden Circle Storyline Seminar in Lanark, Glasgow, March 2015

This paper aims to describe the various ways in which Storyline approach has being introduced and disseminated in Greece to pupils, to undergraduate or postgraduate students and to educators of all educational levels. In general, the Storyline principles and guidelines are applied but furthermore, some elements have been added such as the  audible or visual stimuli at the beginning of the topic for introducing it and impelling the participants to release themselves and indulge in the topic.

A Storyline entitled as "the life in a garbage bin" was being developed in a classroom of 18 children aged 4 to 6 yrs old in a greek kindergarten for five weeks last year.  This book-based Storyline had been initially designed and had been suggested to the Centre of Environmental Education of Edessa in central Greece, coordinator of  the national network  with respect to the waste, so that the very young pupils who visit the Centre to be engaged in the network.  Last year, it was being decided the Storyline approach to be implemented and specifically, the already designed Storyline to be developed in a kindergarten classroom as an Environmental Education for Sustainability program. The main aim was for the young children to be activated as citizens in order to address the problem as agents of change based on the values of sustainability .
